Ashfall Wanderer

★★★★★ 4.7 Editor rating

Ashfall Wanderer is the kind of RPG you sink real evenings into. You play a traveler crossing a slowly dying land, recruiting companions and making choices that actually shift how later chapters unfold. The turn-based combat is deliberate — positioning and status effects matter more than raw numbers.

The writing is a genuine highlight. Side characters have their own small arcs, and a few of the dialogue branches surprised us with how they paid off hours later. Save files are local, so a long flight is the perfect place to lose yourself in it.

Our only gripe is that the early inventory system feels cluttered until you unlock a few upgrades. Push past the first two hours and it settles into something excellent.
