Offline RPGs are having a quiet golden age. Studios finally figured out that a lot of us want to play a proper story-driven game on a commute where the connection drops in tunnels. Here are the ones that survived our test phones without complaint.

Ashfall Wanderer leads the pack for us. The turn-based combat rewards patience, and the branching story genuinely reacts to your choices. It's the one I recommend to friends who miss old-school console RPGs.

For something lighter, look for RPGs with generous auto-save and manual save slots. Nothing ruins a long journey like losing an hour of progress because the game assumed you'd reconnect. We always check this before recommending anything.
